Come Reign Or Shine: Prince Charles Turns Weatherman


There are few things more British than royals and rain. So putting the two of them together — say, if Prince Charles, next in line to the throne, decides to read the weather report during a visit to BBC Scotland’s studios — is a recipe for viral video gold.

The stunt was part of the 63-year-old royal’s annual Holyrood Week, during which he and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, visit various parts of Scotland to celebrate its cultural and historic achievements. BBC Scotland is currently commemorating its 60-year anniversary.

While tabloid headline writers worldwide will delight in the spectacle (heir pressure! pouring reign! all hail! Sorry.), the video itself is fairly delightful. His Highness appears chipper and relaxed, forecasting “cold, wet and windy” conditions for Scotland on the lunchtime weather report.
